Professional Treatments

Mesotherapy

Mesotherapy is a minimally invasive scalp treatment that involves injecting a solution comprised of vitamins, minerals, amino acids, growth factors, and sometimes medication into the middle layer (mesoderm) of the scalp.

Mesotherapy works by supplying the follicular environment rather than altering the follicle itself, results develop gradually. It is delivered as a course of sessions and is commonly used as an adjunct to other hair-growth treatments, with improvements in hair density, thickness and scalp condition becoming more noticeable over weeks to months.

Understand the Treatment

How Mesotherapy Works

Mesotherapy solutions are compounded rather than sold as a single fixed product. A base is combined with a selection of actives chosen for the patient's presentation, then drawn up and injected into the superficial dermis of the scalp using very fine needles, either manually or with a mesotherapy gun.

Not every solution contains all of these. The combination, concentration and volume are selected by the practitioner, which is why protocols differ between clinics.Depending on the formulation, the solution may support microcirculation around the follicle, supply substrates needed for keratin production or deliver peptides and growth factors intended to influence follicular signalling. The micro-injections themselves also produce a minor mechanical stimulus to the scalp.

Common components include:

  • Vitamins (such as biotin and provitamin B5)
  • Minerals
  • Botulinum toxin A (Botox®)
  • Peptides
  • Amino acids
  • Stem cells
  • Growth factors
  • Plant extracts
  • Hair growth medications (minoxidil, finasteride, dutasteride)

The Treatment Timeline

  • Immediate | 24-72 Hours

The scalp may feel tender or sensitive following treatment. Pinpoint redness at the injection sites, mild swelling and occasional bruising may occur. These effects relate to the injections and typically settle within a few days.

  • Early Repair | Days 3-14

As sensitivity resolves, the delivered actives are taken up by the surrounding tissue. Scalp condition may improve before any change in hair is visible. Completing the full course is important, as sessions are spaced to maintain consistent exposure at the follicle over time.

  • Follicular Response & Results | Months 2-6+

Hair growth cycles move slowly, so improvements in density and thickness typically require several months to become noticeable. An initial series is usually followed by maintenance sessions to sustain results.

Questions, answered

The science, made clear.

Explore common questions about mesotherapy, and CNANO's approach to procedure-supportive care.

How does mesotherapy for hair growth work?

Mesotherapy for hair involves injecting a customized solution of vitamins, minerals, amino acids, peptides, growth factors, and, in some cases, hair-growth medications into the scalp. These ingredients are intended to support the follicular environment, scalp condition, microcirculation, and signals involved in healthy hair growth.

What types of hair loss can mesotherapy help address?

Mesotherapy may be used for androgenetic or pattern hair loss, reduced hair density, thinning or miniaturized hair, reduced hair thickness, and early-stage hair loss. It is often used as an adjunct to other hair-growth treatments rather than as a standalone approach.

How long does it take to see results from hair mesotherapy?

Results develop gradually because hair growth cycles take time. Improvements in scalp condition may occur first, while changes in hair density and thickness may become more noticeable over approximately 2–6 months or longer. A course of treatments is usually recommended, followed by maintenance sessions as needed.

What ingredients are used in hair mesotherapy?

Hair mesotherapy formulas are customized rather than standardized. Depending on the patient’s needs and the practitioner’s protocol, a formulation may include vitamins such as biotin, minerals, amino acids, peptides, growth factors, plant extracts, or medications such as minoxidil, finasteride, or dutasteride. Not every formula contains the same ingredients.

What should I use on my scalp after mesotherapy?

Post-treatment scalp care should focus on hydration, comfort, and supporting the ongoing hair-growth regimen. CNANO NOVOLUX HAIR is a lightweight nanoemulgel platform designed for customized compounded scalp formulations and enhanced topical delivery of prescribed hair-growth actives while maintaining a fast-absorbing, non-sticky feel.
