Chemical Peels

Chemical peels create controlled exfoliation to improve the appearance of acne, uneven pigmentation, dullness, fine lines, and uneven texture. CNANO skincare can be incorporated before and after treatment to support hydration, barrier recovery, and ongoing skin renewal.

Always follow the aftercare instructions provided by your treatment professional.

Understand the Treatment

What is a Chemical Peel Treatment?

Skin renews itself continuously, but that turnover slows with age and sun exposure. A peel speeds it up deliberately. A solution — typically built around glycolic, lactic, salicylic, or trichloroacetic acid — loosens dead and damaged cells so they shed. The newly exposed surface tends to look smoother and more even.

Depth governs everything else. Superficial peels work within the epidermis and involve light flaking over a few days. Medium-depth peels reach the upper dermis, with more visible peeling and a longer settling period. Depth, solution, and number of sessions are clinical decisions — and matching depth to skin type matters, as peels carry a real risk of post-inflammatory pigmentation in Fitzpatrick types III-VI.

Commonly addresses:

  • Fine lines and early wrinkles
  • Rough or uneven texture
  • Superficial acne scarring
  • Sun spots and freckling
  • Uneven-looking skin tone
  • Marks left behind by acne
  • Dull, tired-looking skin
  • Congestion and enlarged-looking pores
  • Dehydrated-looking surface

The Treatment Timeline

  • Immediate Response | 24-48 Hours

Skin feels tight, warm and looks flushed. Treated pigment may temporarily look darker. Keep everything calm: no actives, no heat, no exfoliation.

  • Shedding | Days 2-7

Flaking usually starts on day two or three and peaks shortly after. The barrier is at its most compromised here. Let peeling skin release on its own — picking or scrubbing is the most common cause of a poor outcome from a well-performed peel.

  • Renewal | 2 Weeks Onward

The new surface looks smoother and more even, stays photosensitive for some time. Daily sun protection is what preserves the result. Actives are reintroduced only when your provider says the skin is ready.

THE CNANO APPROACH

Prepare → Peel → Repair → Renew

CNANO aligns targeted skincare with the skin’s recovery process, selecting formulations based on the peel, patient indication, and stage of recovery.

01

Prepare

Prepare the complexion with skincare focused on supporting your primary skin concern.

02

Peel

A chemical peel removes the skin's outer damaged layers using a controlled solution. As those layers shed, smoother skin is revealed and a renewal response begins

03

Repair

Following treatment, prioritize gentle hydration, barrier support, and calming skincare while the skin recovers.

04

Renew

Once recovery progresses, transition toward ongoing focused and rejuvenating skincare to maintain a radiant, smooth complexion.

Treatment depth, downtime, shedding, product timing, and recovery vary according to the type of peel, treatment intensity, individual skin condition, and treating professional’s protocol. Always follow the treating professional’s recommendations.

Questions, answered

The science, made clear.

Explore common questions about chemical peel treatments, skincare, and CNANO's approach to procedure-supportive care.

What does a chemical peel help improve?

Chemical peels can help improve the appearance of fine lines, uneven texture, superficial acne scarring, sun spots, uneven-looking pigmentation, post-acne marks, dullness, congestion, enlarged-looking pores, and dehydrated-looking skin. Results and treatment depth vary depending on the type of peel and individual skin needs.

How long does skin peel after a chemical peel?

Flaking commonly begins around days 2–3 after treatment and may continue through approximately day 7. Superficial peels typically involve lighter flaking, while deeper peels may have more visible peeling and a longer recovery period. Peeling skin should be allowed to shed naturally without picking, rubbing, or scrubbing.

What skincare should I use immediately after a chemical peel?

For the first 24–48 hours, skincare should remain minimal and focused on hydration, comfort, and barrier support.

We suggest using novoLUX™ nano · repair to support keratinocyte hydration, barrier recovery, and balanced skin repair and remodeling throughout the recovery process, helping maintain a supportive environment for healthy-looking tissue organization and remodeling.

Avoid exfoliation, irritating active ingredients, heat, and picking at the treated skin, and always follow your treating professional’s instructions.

When can I restart active skincare ingredients after a chemical peel?

Active ingredients should only be reintroduced once the skin has sufficiently recovered and your treating professional recommends resuming them. This is often during the renewal phase, around days 7–14 or later depending on the depth of the peel, treatment intensity, and individual recovery.

How should I prepare my skin before a chemical peel?

In the two weeks before treatment, skincare can be selected according to your primary concern. nano · peptide · glow may support hydration, firmness, and radiance; nano · bright may support a brighter, more even-looking complexion; and an acne-focused regimen may be used for acne and post-acne concerns according to your treating professional’s protocol.

Support Skin Before, During & After Chemical Peeling

A chemical peel removes the skin's outer damaged layers using a controlled solution. As those layers shed, smoother skin is revealed and a renewal response begins. Peels can help improve the appearance of fine lines, dark spots, and dull or uneven texture.

Unlike injectables or light-based treatments, a peel deliberately disrupts the skin's surface — so what you use before and after matters.
